Avec leur média de prédilection, le pli, Guillaume Bounoure et Chloé Genevaux créent les conditions d’apparition et de disparition.Dans leurs oeuvres récentes, le support plié devient en soi le sujet d’une réflexion sur la matérialisation discontinue d’un phénomène continu. La décomposition du pli jusqu’à l’immatériel, interroge notre perception du monde phénoménal."

Le pliage " est l’expression du geste primitif au travers de ses différents niveaux de perception.Lorsqu’ils ont commencé en 2005 à créer des installations à partir de matières pauvres mises en volume par le pliage, Bounoure et Genevaux imaginaient produire des formes nouvelles pour l’Architecture.

Avec comme point de départ un geste simple, un pli qui se répète à l’identique, ils ont exploré les conditions d’apparition de formes paramétriques. Puis le processus s’est imposé à eux comme élément central de cette recherche : « Ce qui est au départ un tracé ou une hachure sur un plan devient une fois concrétisé, l’arrête d’un pli, une trace de stylo, un sillon fraisé…que reste t’il de cette ligne ? »

With the fold as their medium of predilection, Guillaume Bounoure and Chloe Geneveaux create conditions for appearance and disappearance. In their most recent work, the folded material becomes in itself the subject of a reflection on the discontinuous manifestation of a continuous phenomenon.

The breakdown of the fold until it becomes ethereal questions our perception of the phenomenal world. 'Folding' is the expression of primitive gesture through different levels of perception.When in 2005 they began designing art installations using impoverished materials to which folding gave volume, Bounoure et Geneveaux had in mind the production of new shapes for Architecture.

With the simple action of a fold repeating itself as starting point, they have explored the conditions for the appearance of parametric shapes. Thereon the process imposed itself upon them as key element of this research: ''what starts as drawing lines or hatches materialise to become crease, pencil mark, countersink… what’s left of this line?''
